The sons of your oppressors will come bowing before you; all who despise you will bow down at your feet and will call you the City of the Lord , Zion of the Holy One of Israel.
Yesterday 10 Jan 2023, I was at the park when I saw a brown husky dog walking quickly before the owner and barking at passerby. The dog barked at me too. Later I saw the same husky at dog run area and this time the dog was not chained up and running around the area with other dogs. This husky after a while came to me and allow me to pat on it. It went for some run then came to me again a few times and each time it came, it come close to me, sat next to me obediently as though I am it’s owner. The owner came and tried to lure it to play ball game but it ignored her, choosing to seat next to me. The owner walked away. The dog still stayed with me. I was delighted when I see the husky liking me, allowing me to pat it and seated next to me as though I am the master. I think the owner got jealous and didn’t smile at me, showing an unhappy face when her dog choose to be with me seating obediently next to me and letting me pat on it.
This incident reminds me of today’s verse on Isaiah 60:14 that talks about persecutors, oppressors coming to bow down before the person they oppress. Jesus was persecuted and oppressed by the pharisees and the Jews. Falsely accusing him and causing him to die at the cross. Later after Jesus resurrection, some of his oppressors believe in Jesus that he is son of God and bow down before him and become Jesus disciples. Joseph in the Bible was persecuted and oppressed by his 11 brothers when he told them about his dream that they will bow down before him. None of his brothers believe in him and they were jealous of him for their father favored him. He was sold as a slave by his brothers and later he became Pharaoh’s right hand man as his governor in Egypt. His 11 brothers came to Egypt looking to buy some food during the famine period and they bowed down before him. Joseph’s dream came true.
As I reflect on today’s verse and what happened earlier with the dog. The dog earlier was barking at me and later changed to become close to me seating next to me like I am the master and letting me pat on it. It reminds me of my own situation. I have been facing oppression from someone and I believe that person will realize her mistake someday and talk to me someday. There will be no more oppression and unhappiness.
Let’s pray.
Dearest Heavenly Father,
Thank you for letting me meet the husky dog in the park and letting me know your word that things will get well even though I am facing oppression. I believe and trust in you that you will make things right. There will be no more oppression. I will be restored. May all Christian who are facing oppression trust that you will deliver us from oppression and make things right. We will wait for you O Lord. We will wait. The day will come when our oppressors will come to us and apologize to us. You will make it happen O Lord our God. You will.
In Jesus Name I pray. Amen.
