But the Lord said to Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the Lord looks at the heart.”
Do you choose your friends based on looks? How about your girlfriend or boyfriend? Do you chose him or her based on looks? Some people they choose their friends based on looks, wealth, status. Once the friend become broke, they leave this friend. Some people may not continue their marriage when their fiancé or fiancée had car accident and they become inmobile, looks change. Is this the right thing to do?
How about interviews? Are you an interviewer that choose your candidate based on looks? Do you hire only those you like based on looks? Is this right? In this society, there are people who hires based on looks. They even put it in the job description for marketing position.
All these are not the right thing to do.
Are you having relationship problems and think that no one understand you? Do not be sad for there is one that knows your heart. God knows your heart.
Today's bible verse, God told Samuel that he didn't want the one that Samuel thought is the one to be the future king. Samuel thought he will choose someone who is tall, strong and good looking. He told Samuel people look at outward appearance but the Lord looks at the heart. God didn't pick Eliab whom Samuel thought God will choose. Later in the Bible, we learn that God choose the youngest son of Jesse to be the anointed future king who was likely to be in his youth or a little boy. This shows that God doesn’t look at appearance or age, He looks at the heart of people to decide whom He choose. He knows each and every one of us our hearts.
If you are having problems with others, remember this. God knows your heart. Though others do not understand you, God knows you. He understand your heart. Talk to him. Cry out to him. He hears. Find comfort in him. Ignore others comments, concentrate on God's love for you. Remember He knows the situation and your heart.
