1 Corinthians 6:12-20 (NIV)
12"Everything is permissible for me"--but not everything is beneficial. "Everything is permissible for me"--but I will not be mastered by anything.
13"Food for the stomach and the stomach for food"--but God will destroy them both. The body is not meant for sexual immorality, but for the Lord, and the Lord for the body.
14By his power God raised the Lord from the dead, and he will raise us also.
15Do you not know that your bodies are members of Christ himself? Shall I then take the members of Christ and unite them with a prostitute? Never!
16Do you not know that he who unites himself with a prostitute is one with her in body? For it is said, "The two will become one flesh."
17But he who unites himself with the Lord is one with him in spirit.
18Flee from sexual immorality. All other sins a man commits are outside his body, but he who sins sexually sins against his own body.
19Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own;
20you were bought at a price. Therefore honor God with your body.
Are you wealthy, rich? Are you using your wealth to do whatever you want with your desires be it food, sex, drugs, alcohol? Are you Christian doing all these sinful things? In today’s verses we are told we need to keep our body for the Lord. It needs to be pure. We need to honor God with our body. Not to have sex with prostitute as our body is a temple for the Holy Spirit. Not to do things that sins against God with our body. Be it drugs, food, alcohol. Alcohol can cause one’s mind to be not sober and do sinful stuff. Don’t ever take drug even when anyone offers you. It will destroy you. Most countries have laws against having drugs sales, consumption. There are death penalty if one is caught having drugs in some countries. However, some countries still allow drugs like cocaine, marijuana. These drugs harm you. It should not be recreational drugs. You will get addicted and drugs might cause health problems, death and broken family, relationship. Whether you are rich or poor, you should not be indulging in sex, drugs, pornography, alcohol. You might say I have my own freedom but freedom can destroy you. It might harm you if you choose to indulge in sinful things with your body. There are people who visited prostitutes or have girlfriends outside of their marriage and having sex with them. These people if they are Christian have sin against God and sin against their wife. Marriage is a holy union. If a man sexually sin outside of marriage, he has sin against God, his own body and his wife.
If you have friends who cause you to sin, leave them. Don’t get influence by them. Turn to God. Pray to God for help and forgiveness of your sins. Go to church. Seek counselling advice. Stay faithful to God and your wife. Keep your body pure. No drugs, no overconsumption of alcohol, no sex with others outside of marriage.
What about singles? Singles need to keep your body to be holy and pure too. Remember Holy Spirit lives in you. Do not sin against God with your body.
Exodus 20:7 (NIV)
"You shall not misuse the name of the Lord your God, for the Lord will not hold anyone guiltless who misuses his name.
Recently, I come across a movie that shows people sinning against God. They have broken the laws of God. Shocking to see the extent of sins in the movie. They even use vulgar words with God mention. Scolding others with vulgar words with God mention in their vulgar words. This is not right. We are told not to misuse the name of the Lord our God. If you are angry, upset, shock, disappointed don’t say any vulgar words at all. Don’t misuse God’s name.
The entertainment industry should stop using vulgar words in their shows and movies. Is not good for people well being. Some might learn all these vulgary. Little ones might see them and learn too. These should be stop. Vulgar words can cause people to sin. They might lead people do harmful things and go against God. Countries need to monitor the content of shows, movies and remove any indecent content. Every country needs to have well-mannered people. Not have a society that curse others. This is not good for the countries if people keep saying vulgar words.
Most important. Remember everyone is accountable to God after this life in earth for what you have said and done.
